Surprise! Update!

These updates are rather scarce, aren't they? I have been focusing more on my geeky food blog, snackordie.com. In April I was featured in the prestigious Official Playstation Magazine UK for my site. I'm in the month with the with the GTA cover. Pretty spiffy!

Fireball did end up having one of his bottom teeth removed. The dentist was the same guy that operates on the Detroit Zoo Animals. When it comes to peegy, nothing but the best!

Back on July 4th, I ran the Tortoise and Hare (a great running store) 5K for the second year in a row. I was a little nervous about running as my right knee had been giving me problems. If I landed on the knee wrong, for the rest of the run my knee would give me sharp pains, forcing me to stop. I'm glad I went for the run, it was as fun as last year!

The sponsors mentioned that they were expecting a thousand people running through the streets of Ann Arbor. Even though I took it a little easy with my knee during the race, I ended up with the same time as last year: 22:58. Last year I was really out of it after I had finished, but this time I had a better grasp of my surroundings and discovered the snack table where I picked up a banana, a Snickers energy bar, and a bit of an oatmeal cookie. I don't know what I did with the energy bar, but the banana and oatmeal cookie was pretty tasty.

Timing for the race was done with chips tied to the shoelaces. The timer started when you crossed the start line, so if you were in the back of the pack when the race started, you weren't penalized. Here I'm tying the chip onto my shoe:

Just before crossing the finish line. I heard the guy in the orange shirt right on my heels after I had passed him for the last .1 mile.

Finished! Hooray!

Peegy Update!

Poor fireball has problems again. He was taken in for a tooth trim on Friday, as I noticed that he still wasn't eating well and one of his teeth was turning brown again. Things turned out a bit more serious than just a tooth trim, and he might need surgery to pull out one of his bottom teeth. He went home from the vet in a box, and was quarantined for a day and half on towels in a tiny cage.

He was a much happier piggy when he was returned to his piggy friends. He's eating okay, although he's on painkillers. He has an appointment for Tuesday to see if he'll need to get his tooth taken out. Right now he's loafing around (he fell asleep in the hay pile today) and being a good pig pig!

Pizza Night!

When an coworker mentioned a two foot pizza last week, I was deliciously intrigued. A trip to Saline secured the pizza. It was...delicious! Picture proof below.

Goodbye, ole running shoes

I finally bit the bullet and got rid of my old running shoes. If you check out the picture, you can note the lack of tread and the chunk of the heel missing. That's not dirt around the lack-of-tread area, that's the shoe being worn away. They have been replaced with some very light and snazzy Nikes.

When looking for a new running shoe, the local running store had me walk around to check out my feet, and picked out some choice shoes for me try out. When I couldn't figure out if I wanted the Nikes or the Brooks, the storesperson offered to let me run around outside the store. A very nice offer, but I would've felt a little silly sprinting around in my skirt.

As it turns out, the shoes I ended up with are Nike+ ready. You stuff the sensor under the sole in the pocket built into the shoe. Pretty neat! I have a Nike+ flash on the left side after all the links on this site, that show my latest Nike+ runs. Also awfully neat! It doesn't seem to be auto updating though...hrm. Might have to fix that.
